Are you getting ready for that fall state of mind?
Are you getting ready for that fall state of mind? In Texas, I’ve learned that doesn’t equate to the cool crisp days in the Northeast. I can’t say it hasn’t been a tough adjustment. Pumpkin spice latte season just isn’t the same in 100 degree heat. Thank you Starbucks for the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, you nailed it for those of us stuck in the heat!
Fall always means sunflowers, pumpkins, and mulled spices. Just because it’s hot out doesn’t mean that can’t happen. Right after Labor Day disregard the three digit temp and change up the scents in my house. Smell is the most powerful sense we have. It impacts mood and behavior and is often considered the most significant trigger of memory. Every time I catch a whiff of a pumpkin or spice candle I am brought back to my childhood home where my mother always had a candle burning. For me it conjures up the memories of coming home after cheering at a Friday night football game or grabbing some late night snacks while chatting with my parents. It’s like I get wrapped in the comfort of that time over and over again.
With the amount of time we are spending at home these days, I’m looking forward to my fall scents more than ever. I’m thinking we are going to start early this year and go all in. Michel Design Works has introduced the Sunflower Days scent. It’s the perfect late summer, early fall transitional fragrance until pumpkin season has hit.
Every year I like to try out new scents and keep my old favorites. There are so many to choose from. They really do cover everything from sweet to savory. Which way to go is always a challenge. I have to admit that sometimes it just depends on the moment and the mood. I definitely crave those spicier scents once it gets a bit colder, but I love to start off the season with the sweet and yummy.
For the purist, I recommend the Park Hill Collection Pumpkin Bourbon or Harvest Moon fragrances, or Tyler Candle’s Pumpkin Spice. The Pumpkin Bourbon is a nice blend of pumpkin and spice with a touch of sweetness It leaves you with a feeling of warm baked pumpkin pie baking in the oven. The Harvest Moon candle smells just like you stepped out onto a late fall field ready for a day of football, and of course Tyler Candle’s Homecoming is a personal must have.
If you prefer something that smells good enough to eat then Capri Blue’s Pumpkin Dulce is the fall scent for you. A new try for me is Park Hill’s Autumn Gathering, scents of roasted hazelnut with notes of cinnamon and vanilla sweetness make a delicious aroma. This scent smells like a creamer.
Whatever your preference is, light up your favorite fall scent. There are always more memories to make for all the autumns to come. And before you know it, the weather will be colder and it will be time for pines! Honestly, it’s my favorite time of the year!
